It’s the last day of my summer holiday and I had so much fun. I didn’t do much. I was lazy most of the time. But I don’t have any regrets. I think I really needed the 2 weeks of rest.
So I decided to choose Sweden and not Italy this time. I think it was better to save up the money and use it some other time instead. We went to Gothenburg for the first weekend of my holiday.
I must say the trip was really really nice. The food that we had, the long walks, some shopping, and just the time spent together. It felt good. I was so happy. And I kept on telling the mister how much I enjoyed it.
The Elite Plaza hotel was gorgeous.

They have the friendliest staff and very good service. They said the place was an old bank turned into an exclusive hotel.
The beautiful details, the architecture, the ambiance, the gorgeous chandeliers.. I can go on. This hotel is just perfect. They even have the letter “E” printed all over the carpet. I felt like I really belong there. I think I found our home in Gothenburg.
First place we went to was Haga, the oldest part of the city.
And saw the famous huge cinnamon buns. Too bad we we’re not able to buy and taste them because most of the shops and cafés were closed late in the evening when we arrived.
As we walked around looking for a restaurant to have dinner, I was adoring pretty flowers dangling around the streets. And I saw this beautiful rustic flower shop.
Saw some birds hanging out with their friends. They’re funny.
I mean look at that, this guy doesn’t seem very happy taken pictures of. An angry bird. Ahahaha
We ate at Pizza Hut.
With a cocktails and drinks menu.
We had to eat at Pizza Hut. Because they don’t have it here in Oslo.
We saw this gorgeous bamboo sculpture/installation.
And if ever we are moving to Gothenburg, we decided that this is the building where we are going to buy an apartment. Those are actual apartments. Could you imagine? It’s beautiful. And in the middle of the city.
Then on the last day, after having breakfast (and a few last shopping trip) we head on to the Art Museum. Where I saw works of masters. The people that I idolise since I was in art school. Van Gogh, Degas, Monet and Rembrandt to name a few. I was standing there in awe. It was like a dream that came true.
After the trip to the museum, we had our last lunch at this cozy french café. I wanted to buy pastries. But my first choice (chocolate eclair) was already sold out. Darn it! So i
I had a tuna sandwich and coffee instead. I thought that it would be enough to keep me full during the drive home.
I fell in love with Gothenburg. It’s a really sweet cozy small city. I was really happy that we went there. An the most important thing is that the Mister and I had a nice time together.
We will surely go back to Gothenburg. Explore more. See more places and dine at restaurants and “fika” (google the word; I can’t explain it; it’s a Swedish thing) at cafés.
I mean Hey! It’s only 3 and a half hours drive from Oslo.
Later.
